Roundtable Participants



We invite abstracts for presentations (15 minutes' duration, plus 10 minutes' discussion) from researchers and professionals working in the field addressing one of the following questions:

  • How can artificial intelligence (AI) support language learning and teaching in schools, community/supplementary schools and independent contexts?

  • How can AI support motivation in language learning?

  • How does AI open up the world of careers for language learners?

Abstracts should be a maximum of 250 words long and accompanied by a short title and up to 75 words of bio information. They should be emailed to by 5pm EDT on Monday May 27. 



We currently have a funding call for projects linked to Artificial Intelligence in the World of Languages.



1. ‘How can AI support Language Learning? Views from the Classroom’

We are seeking language teachers from Higher Education, schools and supplementary/ community schools to join this roundtable discussion. 

2. ‘How does AI Open Up the World of Careers for Linguists?

We are seeking professionals working in the field of languages with experience of AI.

You will present your ideas on the topic for up to 3 minutes, and then take part in a discussion including audience Q&A. If you are interested in participating, please email with up to 250 words on your interest and experience in this area by 5pm EDT time on Monday May 27.

The workshop fee will be waived for invited speakers and roundtable participants. A small number of travel bursaries, up to a maximum of £600, will be available for invited speakers and roundtable participants. Please email to request a travel bursary application form and submit this alongside your application.
